ClassFundz is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect your personal information when you use classfundz.com and related services.
Introduction
By using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
Information we collect
Personal information
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, hashed password and academic details such as your university, faculty, department, admission session and matriculation or registration number. A WhatsApp number and gender may be provided where relevant, but gender is optional and is not used for advertising or eligibility decisions.
Student and identity verification
ClassFundz is designed for verified students. We require a clear face photo and an official student document, such as a school ID, JAMB slip or student-portal screenshot, to confirm that an account belongs to a real student and to reduce impersonation, fraud and unauthorized access to class groups and funds. Class representatives, association administrators and users of regulated financial features may be asked for additional identity information, including a selfie, date of birth, NIN or BVN and bank-account details, where required for verification, fraud prevention or legal compliance.
Transactional information
We collect information about financial transactions conducted through ClassFundz, including wallet balances, virtual-account identifiers, payment references, purchases, contributions, transfers, collections, refunds and withdrawal history. Payments and account services may be processed by Monnify, Paystack and Flutterwave. We do not store complete payment-card details on our servers.
Device and usage information
We collect information needed to secure and operate the Services, including IP address, device name, operating system, session information, push-notification token, notification preferences, request logs and limited information about how features are used. We do not use this information to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
Content and support information
We collect information you submit when creating class or association items, requesting support, reporting a problem or communicating with us. This may include text, uploaded images and related transaction references.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to recognize you when you return, remember your preferences and help us improve the Services. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.
How we use your information
To provide and improve the services
We use your information to create and manage your account, process your transactions, and provide access to verified class and association spaces. We also analyze service usage to improve reliability, accessibility and performance.
To communicate with you
We use your information to contact you about your account, transactions, and the Services. We may send promotional messages subject to your preferences and applicable laws.
To ensure security and compliance
We use your information to protect the security and integrity of the Services, prevent fraud and comply with legal obligations. This includes confirming student identity, verifying users who manage or withdraw funds, monitoring suspicious activity and enforcing our Terms.
To personalize your experience
We use your class, school and account role to show the groups, products, dues and tools that belong to you. We do not use student-verification documents or school and classroom information for targeted advertising.
To conduct research and analytics
We analyze usage patterns, trends and preferences to better understand our users and improve the Services.
How we share your information
Service providers
We share information with third-party service providers that help us run the Services — including Monnify, Paystack and Flutterwave for payments, account services and identity checks; Cloudinary for secure media storage; Firebase for push messaging; and Apple and Google when you choose their sign-in services. We provide only the information needed for each provider to perform its service and require appropriate protection of that information.
Legal and regulatory
We may disclose information to law enforcement, government agencies or regulators if required by law, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of others.
Business transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets or bankruptcy, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you and provide options.
With your consent
We may share your information with other third parties where you have provided consent.
How we protect your information
Data security
We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure — including encryption, access controls and regular security assessments. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data retention
We retain your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected and while your account remains active. Identity, KYC and transaction records may be retained for the period required by financial, fraud-prevention, tax, dispute-resolution or other applicable legal obligations. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.
Your rights and choices

You can access and correct your personal information from your account profile at any time. If you need assistance, contact us using the details below.
Data portability
You may request a copy of your personal information in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, and ask us to transmit it to another service provider.
Right to erasure
You can initiate account deletion from Profile → Delete Account in the ClassFundz app. A seven-day grace period lets you cancel an accidental request. At the end of that period we delete or de-identify account data that we are not legally required to retain.
Right to object and restrict processing
You may object to or restrict our processing of your information under certain circumstances.
Marketing opt-out
You may opt out of promotional messages using the unsubscribe link or by contacting us. Even if you opt out, we may still send you non-promotional messages about your account or transactions.
Cookie preferences
You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect certain features.
International data transfers
Your information may be transferred to, stored and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including Nigeria, where our servers and central database are located. By using the Services you consent to these transfers, including where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.
Children's privacy
ClassFundz is intended for students who are legally able to use the Services or who use them with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian where required. The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly create accounts for children under 13. If we learn that such an account exists, we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time in response to changing legal, technical or business developments. When we update it we will take appropriate measures to inform you consistent with the significance of the changes, and obtain your consent where required by applicable law.
